Newport City Homes

alt

The brief for Newport City Homes called for a contemporary office interior that combined spaces that would offer open relaxed areas for both staff and the public alike. The nature of Newport City Homes business requirement meant that the public spaces need to accommodate a broad age range with break out areas that could accommodate the elderly and young families. Security was also a key consideration, for both staff security and child safety. The brief required a corporate identity that could translate into their outstations and would reinstate their corporate values.

The solution was to utilise the navy, blues and silver from their corporate palette, whilst adding accent colours to the break out furniture and feature walls to identify key areas. Graphics and text were used to drive their corporate messages and values in a fun informal way. Through the use of window treatment and graphics to columns we have emphasised the similarities between the brand new four storey central office Nexus, and the older 1960’s built East and West offices.

The brief called for a high level of flexibility that combined public, semi public and private areas. The reception areas combine soft seating, dining style tables and seating, private meeting rooms to facilitate informal and formal meetings, as well as conference facilities, for larger public or staff meetings and also child friendly areas. The working area called for open plan desking and storage to emphasise Newport City Homes policy of openness and transparency. As well as informal breakout areas for informal meetings and staff relaxation.
