About the Project
The Maltings is the ultimate divergent business hub, steeped in heritage in the heart of Cardiff. Offering coworking space, serviced and self-managed offices in state of the art working environments for businesses ranging from 1 person up to 90 employees.
The Brief
Space2B at The Maltings designed a coworking space, Space2Co-Work, to add to their extensive offering which fits the requirements of start-ups, freelancers, and homeworkers in Cardiff. Powell was appointed the task of space planning, specifying and fitting flooring, and introducing modern furniture into this newly designed space.
Space2B at The Maltings aimed to achieve a creative, fun and professional co-working space for start-ups, so we ensured that we listened and adhered to their requirements for flooring and furniture. We introduced them to a new carpet manufacturer, Amtico, and we implemented a large, yellow, plank shaped tile into the floor design to inject some colour and compliment the furniture.
Furniture was carefully selected and planned to accommodate alternative styles of working in a co-working space.
Staggered feature flooring blended well with the Amtico LVT (Luxury Vinyl Tile), placed close to the breakout areas and tea points, for a quirky vintage feel.
Ergonomic, minimal barstools by Elite were installed to be used alongside the bespoke hot desk area produced by The Wonky Chair Design Studio, for ease as well as comfort.
Storage lockers from Narbutas were provided, allowing visitors to safely store personal items whilst using the Space2b coworking space.
Space2b loved the flooring so much, they went on to use it throughout their boardroom.
